Mutoscope Red Top Crane

Postby sam2002 » Tue Nov 28, 2017 3:36 pm

1937 Red Top Crane made by the Mutoscope co.

Spent the last two days cleaning 70-80 years of nicotine , dirt and other muck from the machine.

Electrical plug that goes from the wall to its inner fuse box was rotted . Replaced that cord , got the volt meter out started checking the circuits . They all checked out . Plugged er in and boom came right to life !!!

Found at a non collectors home he owned it for 10 years never plugged it in . Used as a conversation piece in his office .

Love giving this old American industrial art another shot at life .

Anyway it looks great all cleaned up and it seems to be running just fine .

Yes thanks !

Completely original machine locks, keys, cabinet and mech !
Judging by the toys found on the inside (made in Hong Kong) and the clear speaker wire lamp cord that was spliced into the power cord, I don’t think it’s been played since the 60’s maybe early 70s .
Would be tough to find a nicer un-restored original red top machine out there !

Made in the USA !!!
