Hi
I am new to this site and new to antique slot machines. I have acquired four. I am looking for the escalator bottom coin advance bar for a quarter denomination. The one that is on the machine will only hold 2 quarters and appears to have 3 of the hooks sheared off. If anyone has one, please send me a e mail.
Thanks Dan
This seems to be a great site for information!

Welcome to the forum.
You most likely have what is known as a roll away escalator . It was modified by an operator . Supposedly to help keep the escalator from jamming .

Hi thanks for the reply. Yes it works the way it is, the coin rolls like I guess it should, but when the slide retracts, it makes a loud clicking type sound that is very annoying, I don't know what to do about that.

Yes, as Sam mentioned above, that was a casino modification to eliminate frequent calls for us to leave the slot shop and come down to the casino floor to free up jammed escalators when I worked in the casinos in the 60's!
Even though going down to the floor was a nice break, visit with the Keno runners and Cocktail Waitress', Etc. , it was irritating to be pulled away from an intensive breakdown of a mech in the middle of the job!
Also the lower bar of which you speak is the holding bar as the advance bar is at the top!
Here is a jpg on the Mills escalator, kind of hard to read but if you increase the size of the image it is easier!
Ciao!
