Bronze Chief - Tension Wire?

Postby WS65711 » Thu Aug 22, 2019 8:05 am

I'm not sure if that is what this part is called, or if the part is really necessary at all. My machine is working without it, but maybe it would work better?
I don't see anything that I can identify as being this part in the service manual for the machine. I'm sure the machine screw and wingnuts are hardware store items.. but the wire, not so much.

They are called "Reel Brakes" which control the speed with which the reels spin!
Sometimes spinning to fast without them will cause damage to the reel stop shoes with a lot of play so they were installed!
Also prevents "reel bounce" back to the previous award symbol coming up on the pay-line!
These are usually missing on reproduction slot machines as are some other safety features that were installed at the factory originally!

Thanks for the info Monti. :) I'm pretty confident that my Chief is not a repro, but the missing Reel Brake has been missing since I got the machine in 2011. "Mechanic" sent me a PM earlier this morning and said he could provide the part. I'm just waiting for payment info now.
