Wow what a lot of posts in this thread just gonna throw in my 2 cents worth now. A lot of us have made purchase decisions on machines to buy that we have regretted. We all have paid more than a machine was possibly worth also! If you bought that machine because you loved the way it looks and it plays ok then enjoy it and remember not to buy from that seller again. Expensive lesson bought and paid for learn from it.

I cannot see a broken casting in these low resolution photos but I'm in the hospital using my small phone screen. Castings can be repaired and repaired well so don't despair yet. If you cannot find a reproduction casting find a great welder that specializes in funky repair work. He or she could remove the old repair and do it right but the expensive part is the final grinding and polishing if the repair is not painted over.

Closer inspection is always advised prior to buying and testing it out too sort of like before you get married so you don't have a trainer wife before you move on to wife 2.0 or 2.5 or higher...
Looking for survivor machines especially vendor fronts or original side vendors with or without
a machine. 1920's-30's goosenecks, round escalators. I enjoy hand painting the castings.

Hi Terry
I am in the UK and I also have a French Rol a tor.
looking at yours, as watlingboy has already mentioned, you have components missing inside the case.
I do believe, however, you should not be downhearted and this is definately worth restoring!
You will struggle to find a lower casting but the crack is in a inconspicous area, so why not just get it welded and a repaint,it would look fine!
Ok, it is incomplete, but is not a bad 1st machine and if the reels spin round then that's even better, does the rotary escalator move the coins around?
you could have bought a mills or sega and had a MUCH easier time getting the spares, but if you like a challenge, then this is the machine for you!

Like I said I could not see the crack or repair on my cell phone but after reading the last comment I assume it is not exposed. We have a guy over here in the states called the Vegas Butcher. If he could get away with making an machine out of bondo he would! So do what the car guys do a dab of bondo some fine sanding and a repaint after would looks good.

If you are going to strip buff and polish and repaint the whole thing everything will match and only you will know about the repair. ENJOY IT AND TAKE YOUR TIME figuring out what you need and acquiring one part at a time and enjoy the hunt.

As previously mentioned, this machine was recently purchased on eBay Italy.
You can do a search to see the price and the price it sold for is not so expensive, in my opinion!
I think if you parted it out, you would get your money back, but I DO NOT think this machine should be parted out.
Seems like a crack in the top casting half way down the horn but still very restoreable.
Shame about missing jackpot, put keep hunting, you never know?
