How to make a machine pay nickels?

Postby breiaj » Tue May 07, 2019 12:03 pm

Hello,
I have a 1963 Mills machine that says Eldorado on it. It appears to have once taken and paid nickels but it has been altered as “entertainment only” and no longer pays nickels. Does anyone know how to convert it back?

Is it just setup to free play, in other words you can just pull the handle with no coin going across the escalator as in the photo you have coins in the escalator!
As the previous poster mentioned photos are needed to see the mech!
With the door open and also slide out the mech shelf and if you do you should be able to spin the mech around on the shelf for taking photos as well!

You have to put a nickel in to play and then it pays two nickels whether the spin is a win or not.
I’ll add pics and a video

Looks like all the correct payout slides are present so you should be able to convert it back to standard payouts!
Spin that puppy so we can see the right side of the mech and get a good high rez picture of the vertical pay fingers and the horizontal slide release levers, Etc.

To get pictures of the mech follow the instructions on the photo here below!
This is easier than trying to pull the mech out by itself!

First of all you say it does not pay nickels.....then you say it pays 2 no matter if a win or not. Confusing for sure. One possibility is that the mech is a 2-5 pay. If so, it could be that the bottom (2 pay) horizontal payout finger is stuck to the left and will not return to engage the lower slide when reset occurs. You will need to cycle the mech out of the case to verify. If this is the case simply "wiggle" the finger back and forth to free it up from grease that has set for years. Hope this helps.
