Help identifying a slot machine with no identificatiin

Postby Peten » Sat Mar 16, 2019 7:32 am

When I purchased my house a few years ago the owner had a Yamasa token slot machine and a vintage quarter slot machine in his game room. He offered them up with the house as part of the purchase so I bought them and left them in place. He had keys for the Yamasa and it has always worked. But he did not have keys for the vintage slot machine. I recently had to look up info on the Yamasa (turns out the kids hadn’t lost the keys, they locked them inside! A quick cut with a dremel on the bottom and we were up and running!) While doing this I decided to take a better look at the case of the other vintage quarter slot machine to see if I could get it open and reset it. The machine does power up, but there are tokens or quarters jammed in the slot and the arm will not pull.

I can find absolutely no indication on the case for who the manufacturer is. I have included pictures of all sides in hopes someone might recognize the style so I begin looking for a set of keys to open it and see if it is serviceable. We are throwing a going away party for a group of Japanese foreign exchange students this week and I thought it would be fun for them if this was functional too.

Thanks in advance!

Wow! Thanks for the rapid replies!

I looked on eBay and there seem to be several types of keys for Ballys. Is that correct?

I continued my search over the weekend. But I do not see any that reference a model number. They are only referencing barrel numbers like, 52593, 3053. I do not see any marking on the external part of the lock (which makes sense with the name “barrel numbers” lol). Any suggestions on a barrel number from this era I could start with?

Here is a close-up of the lock.
