Caille Aristocrat coming up in PA auction.

Postby Dave » Mon Sep 12, 2005 10:15 pm

Several of you probably already know about this.

On 9/23 and 9/24 there is going to be a big auction out in Allentown PA.

I will post more information about it later.

Anyway, included in the lot is a Caille Aristocrat Counter Roulette.

Let's have another poll and see how close people come.

The last poll (for the Caille Peerless Roulette) generated some interesting dialog and EVERYONE was WAY LOW on their estimate.

Sooooo, let's try again. How much do you think it will bring (counting buyer's premium)?

Winner gets bragging rights :D

Dave,

Are we going to guess on the floor model Caille Roulette at Arrington's again? Also how about the Caille Double? Thanks for the great job.

After seeing the way prices are going these days at auction, I wouldn't be suprised if it goes over $35,000....

Holy crap!!

I thought I was being aggressive when I estimated $25K - $30K and I see I am the lowest one.

I see the auction also has a Silver Cup, Paces Races, and a Mills Scarab.

I wonder what those will bring.

I would go with about 25K but, I wouldn't be suprised if it goes for double that. Because his machines are nice and bidding is crazy these days. You just never know. Who's to say it couldn't reach 75K it could happen. I bet you the Baker Boy gets easily $7,000 because there is a high demand for them right now.

Coin-op High Prices

Postby Gumgod » Thu Sep 15, 2005 9:45 am

I think something that Nick has forgotten is that for years coin-op was relatively easy to find. Dealers would price their machines based on what they thought they were worth and what they had paid for the machine originally. When price guides became available for most coin-op, the prices stabilized for a while. About five years ago, when dealers and collectors both realized that most of the coin-op had been found and there was no longer a supply of newly found items, prices began to rise (supply and demand). Also, the hobby continues to add new collectors, which means that there are more people trying to acquire items but still the same amount of items available (supply and demand). It stands to reason that when a good item becomes available at a show, on e-bay or at an auction there will be competition for it, which relates to a high price (supply and demand). Sometimes an inexperienced buyer will pay far more than he should for an item, but if it comes from an auction or ebay,
there is almost always a back-up-bidder who was willing to pay almost as much as the winner did. If the winner puts the item in his collection and is happy with it, the price he paid for it is secondary. Today, when good items come to the market it is impossible to predict what price they will command, as the number of collectors outnumber the amount of items available. Even though a relatively fair amount of an item may be in collections, only one is available TODAY, and therefore it will sell for a premium, sometimes at a price that is hard to understand. In my estimation, prices may falter in the future only if we experience a major recession or there become more machines available than collectors to buy them.

Did anyone say $19,000 plus the juice? That would make it $20,900.

I saw that the Mills Dice sold for $7,000 plus. Was there something wrong with it or are dice machine prices coming back down to reality?

Other prices (plus 10-15% BP):

Mills Double Dewey Upright $80,000
Mills Scarab $55,000
Roovers Madam Zita $36,000
Roovers Donkey #32,000
Caille Black Cat Upright $30,000
Superior Races $22,000
Caille Silver Cup $16,000
Mills Baseball Slot $13,000
Bakers Pacers $12,000
Mills Jockey $8,500
AC Multibell $3,000

I'm veryconfused. I saw the Mills Baseball flash $13,000 but when I went back and reviewed it on my "saved favorites" it shows as the two selling for $6500 and $8000. The Caille Silver cup shows as final bid at $14000 but the others seem to be accurate such as the Black Cat at $30,000 and so on. E-Bay mistake, Inmanman mistake, any ideas.
