Caille Commander Console in VCA auction

Postby clubconsoles » Tue Aug 19, 2014 9:43 am

As I am in the UK, I was considering making internet bids on this machine.
Can anyone tell me how rare they are?
Anyone know of any issues with this machine that is being auctioned?
I understand the hydraulic clocks leak and give many problems.
What sort of $$ would this go for?
I have shipped from US many times so know of crating and import expenses.
Does anyone know of another for sale as I know VCA auction fees are quite high?
Thank you all for any info you may have!

Quite a beautiful machine. As fas as rarity goes , myself have not seen this machine before. And as far as auction prices go, Morphy just acquired VCA or merged, but either way, I get the feeling the buyer will be paying for it.

The last time I saw one of these move, it went for about $4,000.00 US. That was about five years ago.

The Harrah Collection machine is missing the pull hardware on the hatch. I'm attaching a few pictures you might find helpful: it really is only a Caille Commander stuck inside some very snazzy floor cabinetry... but what a beauty!

Well, I Finally managed to aquire a Commander console.
Found it on one of the facebook groups for vintage coin op.
its all original and only needs veener reglue in a few places.
the cabinet is marked serial 32 so a very early one?
the mechanism baseplate is serial #111804.
it seems the consoles are given different serials to the mechs??
Does anyone have any additional info about my machine?

Sorry, all I have on these beauties comes from Bueschel... not even sure which of his "100 Most Collectible" books has this in it. I wouldn't pay much attention to "price guide" though. :)

Hi Clubconsoles
I know you are the console man. Although this is not about the Caille Console it might be of interest to you. I came across this book "Mills Consoles* by Dick Bueschel on Amazon's USA site. Published by Coin-Op Classics, packed with Schematics, Manuals, History. Here is the link below;

https://www.amazon.com/Mills-Consoles-C ... B00ADXRIDG

The book which is long out of print sold originally for $25. There were also two other books in the series, "Payout Dice Machines" & "Big Head Lollipop Scales". The books turn up on Amazon, Ebay and good second hand booksellers. You may already have the book on Mills Consoles but i thought that it was worth a mention.

Best, Lol (Laurence)

Hi Laurence

I already have Dicks Mills Consoles book, but thanks for the heads up.
It is a great book and was really helpful when restoring my 4 bells.
Hope to see you again sometime.
Cheers

Nigel

**Update on Caille serials.
I read in one of Dicks 100 most collectible books that Caille serials only go up to 112000.
the models listed are knock outs and playboys (no lemons)
So my commander being #111804, i reckon it is almost the end of the line!
