Groetchen Pikes Peak trade stimulator

I have just purchased a Pikes Peak which is in fairly good original condition-pics below.
Really the only issue is the stairs seem rather 'gummed up' and do not move up & down as freely as desirable. Also the alloy uprights which support the stairs on the left side have partly dislodged from the upper cover. I would like to disassemble the inner workings to resolve these issues but am reluctant to delve to deeply without an expert view of the broad steps to attempt the disassembly.
I would really appreciate assistance on this pls.

Well there’s a reason why most members join, and I would imagine one of the most common would be they are looking to buy one.
