Been discovering the benefits of lacquer over enamel on this restoration. I love 5000 grit sandpaper.
I left the polished aluminum showing in the escalator window, bottom casting and top diamonds and left the raw aluminum on the bonnet and reel window. Haven't seen that before.
I had the bottom casting primed and black enameled but recoated too soon and messed it up so took it down to the metal and liked the b/w look.
I just buffed off the crud on the brass payout bib.
This was sitting in a garage in So. Cal. for 30 years. Most of the coins inside were from the '60s and '70s.
The mech works perfectly but I did clean and rebuild the escalator.
