I bought a Decatur Fairest Wheel a year or two back. There is a small sheet metal tray where the coin lands at the bottom so the proprietor can verify that an actual coin was used and not a slug. Then a handle attached to the tray (a rod with a bend at the end) is turned to drop the coin into the base of the unit.
I assume there should be glass covering the sides of this "coin check" area, but there is none on my machine. I cannot see how the glass pieces would have been mounted. There are no slots or grooves for the glass pieces to slide into.
If anyone has knowledge about these and/or could provide pictures of this area on their own machine, please reply.
