The base is no longer needed! I was able to salvage the one that I had. Basically, I filled the rotted area with epoxy. Once that cured, I ran it through my planer and removed enough material to laminate new oak to the bottom. It turned out better then I expected. It won't win any best of show awards
. But, it will work just fine for home use when finished.
