I just sold a photo album on Ebay with 100's of pictures taken in the 1980's at the Chicagoland show. At that time the show was probably 75% slot machines and parts. In the album there are pictures of rows and rows of slot machines for sale.

I was probably in some of those photos.
I wrote an article for Always Jukin on the Chicagoland show about that time, too. Lots of photos in that one.

Steve, this allowed access to and vision of the Mills jackpot operation. The Mills main and reserve jackpot operation always was a weak part of the machine design. If you ever worked on a Mills jackpot for any length of time and got to the point of wanting to throw your tools, you would appreciate why they added this jackpot operation window.

I thought the ten stop mechs were 2/4 pay. This machine shows a 10 stop mech with a 3/5 pay

The show really changed emphasis once the Europeans started to buy up Jukeboxes.....the whole show was driven from that point on by them and the jukebox. I've tried to warn the promoters about the repo signs......a lot of them are unauthorized. I collect and buy and sell signs .....and it is hard to sell the real thing when someone has a repo of the same sign. The quality of the signs stink too. A lot of them are two pieces of printed paper glued onto a steel plate and then clear coated. The problem for the promotors is that repo parts for restoring jokes and slots and gas pumps are considered part of the hobby. What the buyer after he uses it or the seller represents it as is beyond their control. I have been reading this forum for the last few months and see that there is a lot of garbage being passed off as legit. The only answer I see is that education is needed for the collector such as this forum provides. Keep up the good work.

You are quite correct. I just checked out the mech. And it is indeed a 2/4 payout.
I guess I got excited when I saw the repro 3/5 card, knowing that I had a NOS original 3/5 card I just replaced it without giving it much thought.
So now I have to find a nice original 2/4 card to make everything right.
Thanks for pointing that out to me.
I wonder why I never thought of that. Getting old is a bit*h.

This machine has found a new home, but will still be living in the Chicago area.
