I have a Mills Skyscraper with the same removable ( via hardware, from the inside ) casing blank ==> to the side of the Jackpot window.

Any idea what's the purpose / design intent for this feature ?

Steve, this allowed access to and vision of the Mills jackpot operation. The Mills main and reserve jackpot operation always was a weak part of the machine design. If you ever worked on a Mills jackpot for any length of time and got to the point of wanting to throw your tools, you would appreciate why they added this jackpot operation window.

Inside is all there, too. Lock for cash box is missing though. As is the the thumb screw that holds the mech to the base plate. Neither of which is a big deal to find.
It's listed on eBay right now, at a higher price of course, with a ton of photos.

It walked into my car at the Chicago show from a private party in the parking lot.

How about I let you take my car next year to the show. I'd love to have one of those get in for me to take home. Seems like a pretty nice find to me.

Years ago when I was taking a double booth at the show for some 12 consecutive years, I used to run into deals like this all the time. Things have really changed. Now They should call it the reproduction advertising , and maybe a few real slots and juke box show. Clean original anything is fast becoming a thing of the past.
Steve Gronowski, Pete Hansen and Bob Strauss would never have allowed all those re-pop advertising signs to crap up the show like the present owners do.
