Loheide Wizard Clock

Postby integ194 » Tue Dec 01, 2020 3:25 pm

I have just acquired one of these clocks without the marquee. Would really appreciate if someone with an original marquee could post a pic of the marquee front and back. I am particularly interested to observe the frame and mounting tabs. Thanks Wayne

Hi Wayne;

I think these clocks were generally found with one of two marques (if they still have a marque), as shown in photos below. The "Time to play" one seems to be more common.
Which one is correct for your clock is hard to say; there were at least 6 companies that assembled these clocks.
Loheide seems to be the most common, but they are often misidentified since some models looked identical.
Don't know if any maker stuck with one style marque; they probably varied over time.
Bueschel's Counter Games book identifies one that looks like your model as a Loheide and it has the "No Blanks" marque on it.
I think your clock was identified as a William White model.
There is also one that looks identical to yours on eBay (US) that still has part of a Progressive Manufacturing sticker on it.

Both marques shown below appear to be accurate reproductions.
The "Time to Play" one is currently on eBay (US) for $13US without the frame.
One photo shows a metal attaching bracket, but I believe the frames were also often attached with wood brackets as reproduced below.

My clock arrived a couple of days ago and during transport it appears the top screw securing the clock mechanism to the housing broke away and the mechanism dropped a small amount which makes it difficult to insert the clock winding key. To correct the housing I need to remove the mechanism from the machine. But I am very wary of removing the Waterbury clock hands. Does anyone have any advice please on safely removing these hands? Thanks Wayne.

You may want to take your machine to a local clock repair shop. They would know.

Thanks-it is a knurled nut removable anti-clockwise and then the minute and hour hands remove comfortably with care of course.
