Caille Cadet Leaky Pump Question

Postby Clutchplate » Sun Jan 10, 2021 12:52 pm

I'm in the process of repairing the leaky pump and was wondering what used to keep the pumps from leaking through the shaft hole and what position was it in in relation to the two small washers?

Machine a new brass sleeve for the shaft the proper size. This will fix the leaking problem.

Thank you for your reply. I think I'm going to take the easy way out and install a rubber washer on the underside of brass nut.

Yes, there should be a rubber washer seal around the shaft where it meets the brass hex-cap; there ought to be a spring pushing the crankshaft up against the seal, which may sit between two ball bearings though I have not seen that on some of the earlier model pumps.

My style has the 2 ball bearings with the spring in the middle just like your pic. Thank you for your information!

I installed small rubber washer under brass cap, filled with dot 3 brake fluid and all is good now. Not a drop of oil leaking from pump.
