Groetchen Columbia serial numbers

Postby Walter Newton » Sat Feb 20, 2021 9:14 am

Is there a good list of Groetchen Columbia serial numbers somewhere (the Coin Op Registry list is VERY small).

I'm trying to date my machine.

It's a standard, double jackpot, five cents, serial number 18967.

Any ideas, links, info?

(P.S. I'm having a great time getting this sucker working. It's the kind of challenge I like.)

Yes, considering their large surviving numbers, there are not a lot of Columbias in the data base.

You are probably aware that Bueschel dates production of the Columbia from 1936 to 1953.
There were many other models introduced during that time, so the Standard may be more heavily populated in the early years.
One Standard with fruit reels and serial number 82?8 was dated to April 1939.
You have a very high serial number, putting yours in the later years of production.
The highest serial I know of for a Columbia Standard is 23788, date unknown.
