Have had a couple of mills/pace twin jp lower casting variants and others but never seen this version before.

Would like info on collaboration and timeline details please

Thanks

Edit: just researched and found its 1929 Charles Fey, Its a great looking machine but looking at the award panel

the jp/bars symbols are they black or empty windows to fit different reelstrip options behind or an other reason?

This looks like a Mills revamp (by Fey?); bar symbols are solid/painted black.

Although the coin head looks like Caille,
I'm making my opinion that it's a Mills/Fey revamp based on; Mills style top castings with what looks like a Mills serial number (hard to see in photo) and the C F logo for Charles Fey below jackpot (also hard to see in photo), which conforms to your research. Interesting machine; did your research tell us any more about it?

I should have done a little research before posting above; you got me interested; the first book I checked was Slot Machines by Marshal Fey; it has a photo of this machine on page 66.

For those without the book, here’s what it says about this machine:

“Charlie Fey built the first machine for dollar play in1929 by utilizing new parts and castings patterned after his competitors. The two front castings, having a large jackpot display, were adapted from a 1920s Mills Operators Bell; a new coin entry to accept the larger dollar was derived from a Caille Superior entry; the mechanism began as a Mills to which a new coin head, payout tube and slides were added; and the larger size of the parts made necessary the use of narrow Jennings reels.”

Quite a combination makes for a great machine!

Marshall's book is a Great Reference and he knows so much on EVERYTHING that is slot machines!
Really miss going upstairs in the Liberty Bell Restaurant when it was on Virginia Street in Reno, such an experience looking at all his slots and hearing his stories as we walked around all his "TOYS"!
Another book that is also a Great Reference is "Slot Machines On Parade" by Daniel Mead & Bill Gedde's!
Anyone in the hobby should have these two books!
Ciao!
