HOW DO YOU RELEASE A RESERVE JACKPOT ON A MILLS MACHINE?

Postby Marcellous » Sat Jan 09, 2021 2:32 pm

I have an early War Eagle 25-cent machine that plays perfectly up till now. Been restored by a top restorer. Awhile ago I got a jackpot and it worked fine. Putting in the next coin, the reserve jackpot started to fall but didn't and the machine is jammed. The handle is down halfway and I can't pull it further. Hopefully there is an easy fix. I have hit several jackpots on the machine and they always paid correctly and the reserve jackpot fell properly on the next coin. I don't think it is a problem of coin in the escalator. The handle moved easily for play but stopped halfway when reserve jackpot wouldn't fall. Would appreciate very much your thoughts and suggestions. Thanks

WOW!!! So far, 98 views on my post and not one coming up with a suggestion of solving my problem. No worry for I have had for fifteen years a wonderful handyman that has worked for me. He is a mechanical genius. He took the inside of the unit out, studied the way it works and solved the problem. This is a man that is not knowledgeable about slot machines and yet knows more than apparently all of you who collect and I assume sort of service your own machines. Thanks, at least for viewing my post.

I guess "Wow" means that a handyman with no knowledge of slot machines can remove the mechanism, study it for a few minutes and fix the problem is better than a serious collector that should know his or her slot machines with being a collector. I am glad that my handyman is in my employ in case I have a future problem.

This may help others on these forums as to the workings of the Mills Jackpot and Reserve. Good video explanation:
