Just picked up this Pace and I cannot find anything about this machine. It has a fourth reel with all stars and a PACE emblem. Does anyone know anything about this machine. Thanks

Your machine was the last of the Pace slots made around 1950. Thats all I know.

PACE MACHINE PICTURED STARTED IN 1939 AS THE PACE DELUXE AND RAN TILL 1945-46. IN 1946 IT WAS UPDATED AND CALLED THE PACE CHROME DELUXE, NOW THAT THE WAR ENDED AND CHROME WAS AVAILABLE AGAIN. THE SERIES WENT FROM 1946 - 1950 WITH SOME ADDITIONS TO THE LINE LIKE THE PACE DELUXE GOLD STAR $1 MACHINE AND THE PACE DELUXE SILVER STAR 50c MACHINE. SINCE PACE WAS UNABLE TO RETOOL EVERY YEAR THEY CONTINUED THE MODEL AND SIMPLY CHANGED THE DATED STAR ON THE LEFT SIDE OF THE CABINET. THE FINAL SUPPOSED MODEL THE EIGHT STAR IS A CONTINUATION AND SHOULD HAVE THE 50 STAR ON THE LEFT SIDEOF THE CABINET. THIS MODEL WENT TO ABOUT 1953 BUT HAD ONLY THE BLANK STAR AFTER 1950. I DON'T KNOW MUCH BUT THATS WHAT I KNOW.

Great find!

According to Fey, both the 8 Star Bell version and the 4th reel JP feature were introduced in 1949.
You'll find ads for the 4th reel JP feature in the literature, but apparently the last manual/IPB Pace produced was in 1946; so it'll work for your mechanism but not include the 4th reel feature.
That manual is reproduced in Coin Slot Guide No. 4.

IMO: to have one of the last Pace models with numbered star and the 4th reel complete with marque is a great collectible machine!

Thanks nvmos2, yes I'm happy to add it to the collection. I've been trying to find a Pace repair manual but no luck. Again thanks for that great info. Paul

As far as a repair manual, it won't cover the 4th reel, but there is the Deborah and Dan Mead repair book entitled "Owner's Pictorial Guide for the care and understanding of the Pace Bell Slot Machine" published in 1983. I'm not sure how easy it will be to get a copy, but there could be some available via this Forum on on eBay.

Good suggestion by mazzeosa17; probably has more info than Guide 4.

I just noticed this machine also has "3 bars any position" payout.
Can't tell from photo; what does that pay?

This machine is in such good condition, I think I would have posted it under the "Fantastic Finds" topic.

How'd you find it?
Did you get any background/history with it?
