Mice piss and shit in a Jennings

Hi,
I have a Jennings model B that I will soon be working on, the only problem is it's been storied in a shed for years and years, mice have got inside and made it their home... Full of piss and shit and grass seed... The wooden base of the cabinet, the glue came apart because of it and real filthy inside.
Mechanic told me on the phone to work on the cabinet first, take it apart and use bleach and water to scrub all that yucky stuff away and when I'm done, I should throw away the brush because mice have dangerous diseases... I thought that was good advice. I don't want to pester Mechanic too much because he's chasing down a part for my Caille Doughboy...
I was just in the basement, and I found a brown bottle of Lysol that kills 99% viruses and bacteria, if you remember it's got that wonderful red fluid that stinks and smells like a hospital... Should I use that instead of the bleach? Can I use the Lysol on the metal parts? Is that safe for everything? Or will it be bad for the metal parts and stain it or worse corrode it instead ? That would be bad...
Originally, I was going to use Palmolive antibacterial dish soap only on the metal parts and use a scrub brush. A clock guy I know says clocks are known, if not famous to have mice live inside he just vacuums it out, no washing needed, so what should I do that's best?

I think the Lysol would be fine to take care of the mouse feces, but I'd use a solvent on the metal parts (even if you use Lysol first on them) to get rid of the grease and dirt that's accumulated over the years. Then you can rinse off the metal parts, dry them, and oil/grease them as needed. I don't know that the Lysol will get rid of the grease and dirt.

Do you think it's possible that Lysol might mess up the varnish on the wood, what I mean is a chemical reaction to the varnish making it sticky that won't dry... Bleach also kills germs but it might bleach the wood as well? The truth is I never did anything like this before...

Yes, I would worry that the Lysol might mess up the varnish on the wood. You could try it on a small section that isn't as visible, and see how that works. I think the bleach could also damage the wood varnish, so I'd think Lysol might be better to try, at least at first.

I'm still working on the Model B, I will send photos soon... However, I have a another question about the Jennings model B Victora, Is the mint vender taller than the regular model B, does the back door fit both models? Please let me know... I just bought a door for it... Thank you...
