Bent reels on Model B

Postby just frank slots » Fri Aug 09, 2024 5:14 am

Hi everyone,
I have a Jennings Victoria B with bent reels, not real bad but bad enough to make a difference... Do I need to replace the reels or simply bend the reels back into place? Or do I need to make a jig instead? Please let me know... Thank you... :?:

I would try to bend them back into place so it's not as noticeable. I've done that with a couple of my customer's machines, and it worked pretty well. If they have spindles attached to the reels, I've also JB Welded the spindles to the reels for more support.

Are you saying just bend them back into shape with your hands, just that simple...

Yes, with your hands, or gently use pliers, but put a rag under the pliers if the reel strips are still on, to avoid damaging the reel strips.

Good advice... And simple... I was afraid I would have to make a jig of some sort, that would take some time to figure out... Easier to use my hands instead...
