Mills Proto Type ?

Postby capt7310 » Wed Nov 18, 2020 7:22 am

Just bought this Mills 10 cent machine pretty much all original but the bottom casting looks like a skyscraper and the top casting is a Operator Bell/Poinsettia. The strange thing is the award card belongs where it is on the machine and both casting are a perfect fit and everything operates as it should. I've never seen anything like this just reaching out to see if anyone has ever seen this type. The number on the top casting (see pic) and there's another one is MVO 2025. Thanks

How does this theory sound:

Not a Prototype, but a revamp.
The top casting looks like an Operator Bell Bullsye, c 1927, near the end of the line for slots without jackpots.
Mills introduced the Skyscraper c1932.
When many of the older machines without JPs were being revamped, Mills was known to revamp their own machines.
Perhaps they revamped one of their Bullseye machines with a modified Skyscraper casting to add the JP front.

LOOKING AT BOTH FRONT AND BACK OF THE AWARD CARD AREA IT HAS TO BE A REVAMP BUT WHOSE ???? ANY CASTING NUMBERS ON THE LOWER??? MILLS WOULD HAVE PUT THEIR PART NUMBERS ON THE LOWER IF THEY DID IT.

Thanks for the input and after exhausting all research to find this machine I decided to recondition it and add to the collection. Just wanted to share. Happy Holidays to all....
