QT Dial with aviation theme

Has anyone seen one of these before? This is in the March 08 Victorian Casino Antiques auction. I deduce, from looking at it, that (a) it's a replay machine, (b) it's pre-war, and (c) it was intended for professional pilots. Could it be an Air Force officer's club special?

This machine is called a Mills Dial.
They are somewhat unusual but not what I would call rare.

Hi Dave,
Do you know how many of these were made? According the Bueschels book, these are not rare. However, you don't see them everyday.
